Description & Requirements

The Zhang lab at The Broad Institute of MIT & Harvard is seeking an exceptional scientist to join our mission of discovering and developing new molecular biology tools to improve human health for their postdoctoral training. The Zhang lab has pioneered the development of a number of new biotechnologies, including CRISPR-mediated genome editing, new approaches for high-throughput genetic screening, DNA microscopy, CRISPR-based diagnostics, and single-cell genomics methods. These advancements often stem from natural systems, and the lab is also at the forefront of discovering and characterizing novel molecular systems. Collectively, our work encompasses many disciplines, including computational biology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, biochemistry and structural biology, molecular biology, genomics, and bioengineering.

Our lab is a fun, vibrant, fast-paced, results-driven, and collaborative environment. Postdoctoral trainees will have the opportunity to lead their own projects within the scope of the lab’s broader work, collaborating with other members of the team and outside the lab as needed to achieve the goals of the project. Postdoctoral trainees will also have access to a number of resources to help position them for future career success. Previous postdoctoral trainees have gone on to start independent research groups at some of the leading universities around the world, as well as to competitive positions at leading biotech companies.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • 0+ years of post-graduate experience
  • A PhD in immunology, cell biology, or molecular biology, or a related field
  • Outstanding personal initiative and communication skills
  • Excellent molecular biology skills and experience in cell biology
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals

We are seeking creative and highly motivated individuals who want to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary research environment.
