Senior Operations Specialist – Finance Operations, Sentinel Program

The Senior Operations Specialist supports financial strategy, operations, compliance, and reporting for a large international program. Working closely with the Associate Director of Finance and Operations, program leadership, institutional offices, and global partners, this role ensures financial accuracy, compliance with sponsor guidelines, and strong alignment with program objectives. Responsibilities span budgeting, forecasting, post-award support, subrecipient monitoring, and general operational support.


Key Responsibilities
Financial Monitoring & Operations
  • Support monthly financial reporting, account reconciliations, and routine adjustments.
  • Process invoices, troubleshoot financial discrepancies, and maintain audit-ready documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure timely updates to financial systems and develop standardized financial tools and processes to support efficient operations.
  • Provide support for general operational needs.
  • Maintain multi-year forecasts and financial models to support strategic decision-making.
  • Track project budgets, spending, and burn rates; provide analysis for leadership and donor reporting.
  • Support financial operations across all active awards.
  • Ensure adherence to federal and non-federal regulations.
Post-Award Management
  • Support the financial management of domestic and international subrecipients.
  • Assist with establishing subawards and service agreements in collaboration with institutional offices.
  • Monitor subrecipient spending, reporting, and compliance, and escalate risks as necessary.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with partner institutions.
Proposal Development & Pre-Award Support
  • Develop and review complex proposal budgets and cost applications.
  • Ensure alignment with sponsor and institutional guidelines.
  • Support proposal teams through budgeting guidance and compliance review.
  • Contribute to the timely submission of high-quality grant applications.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Public Health Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • At least 3 years of operational support that includes finance or grant administration experience.
  • Experience with international project finance and multi-country operations, and supporting complex sponsored research portfolios.
  • Knowledge of federal grant regulations and foundation funding mechanisms.
  • Experience with subrecipient monitoring, including international partners.
  • Advanced Excel skills; ability to learn new financial systems.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cultural competency and effective communication with global partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous-improvement mindset.
The expected base pay range for this position as listed above is based on a 40 hour per week schedule. Broad provides pay ranges representing its reasonable and good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, qualifications, and other factors permissible by law.
