The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an energetic, experienced scientist to serve as the Program Manager for an exciting new initiative focused on unlocking the mysteries of neurodegenerative diseases, beginning with Parkinson's disease. This program is a unique collaboration between the Broad Institute, a pharmaceutical company, and philanthropic organizations.

The Role

In this pivotal role, you will be the central point of contact for the program, working closely with principal investigators, the Alliance Manager, and our external partners. You will play a key role in shaping the scientific strategy, developing the work plan and timeline, and overseeing the overall project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Principal Investigators (PIs) on all aspects of the program, including strategy development, project management, and delivery of critical scientific outcomes.
  • Lead a program strategy team to drive integrated program discovery goals.
  • Manage a complex portfolio of research projects, ensuring success of both individual projects and the overall program with a focus on patient impact.
  • Collaborate with individual laboratories to ensure successful scientific execution and identify opportunities for collaboration across the program.
  • Oversee project budgets and timelines, proactively identifying and resolving roadblocks, in conjunction with project managers within each laboratory.
  • Manage internal relationships with Broad departments like Finance, Sponsored Research, Research Subject Protection, Strategic Partnering and Alliances, and Project Management teams.
  • Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and intellectual property considerations in collaboration with the legal team.
  • Lead internal and external communications for the program.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented program environment, promoting best practices and information sharing.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to ensure program success.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in neurology, immunology, genetics, biology, or a closely related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience working in large and complex scientific organizations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of the cultural differences between industry and academia.
  • Experience with intellectual property issues.
  • Team player who thrives in a collaborative and demanding environment.
  • Experience in program or project management is a plus.
