Job Description
The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard is seeking a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to support the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH), an international non-profit organization developing genomic data standards to benefit human health and medicine. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, self-directed individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is excited to contribute to a variety of communications tasks in a generalist capacity.

About GA4GH
GA4GH is an international open-science organization that brings together over 700 leading organizations in healthcare, research, patient advocacy, life sciences, and information technology to create frameworks and standards for secure and responsible sharing of genomic and health-related data. Supported by an international staff across five Host Institutions, including the Broad Institute, GA4GH relies on effective communications to engage its diverse global community.

Position Overview
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will play an essential role in supporting GA4GH’s communications efforts, ensuring effective outreach to internal and external stakeholders. This role will focus on carrying out well-defined tasks in areas such as social media management, email marketing, content creation, and event promotion. Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Coordinator will assist in producing and distributing communications materials that support GA4GH’s mission and strengthen its community engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Social Media Management: Oversee daily operations of GA4GH’s social media accounts, including X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, and Facebook.
  • Email Communications: Draft and distribute weekly newsletters and event marketing emails to internal and external audiences.
  • Event Promotion: Develop promotional materials for GA4GH conferences, workshops, and other events.
  • Content Creation: Assist in writing blog posts, community announcements, and simple science news stories. Support the collaborative development of scripts for podcasts, videos, or animations.
  • Reports and Updates: Coordinate content for biannual community reports and maintain routine updates for stakeholders.
  • Website Support: Assist in updating website content using established templates and processes.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain media and community contact lists and assist with outreach activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years of related experience.
  • Basic to intermediate experience with social media platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including attention to detail in editing and proofreading.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a small, dynamic team and independently on assigned tasks.
  • Familiarity with tools like WordPress, Google Suite, and email marketing platforms.

Work Environment
The GA4GH team operates in a hybrid work environment, collaborating remotely four days a week and coming together in person one day a week at the Broad Institute in Cambridge, MA.

Application Process
Please submit a resume and cover letter. Applicants may include 1–3 examples of communications materials they have developed, such as social media posts, articles, or projects from academic or professional settings (optional).
This role is a great opportunity for someone interested in gaining broad experience in communications while contributing to a meaningful international initiative.

The Broad will not provide sponsorship for this role.
