Description & Requirements

The Broad Institute’s Genomics Platform seeks a collaborative, versatile account manager to provide collaboration and account management for a complex range of services encompassing cell, screening, and sequencing technologies. Working in an exciting and fast-paced environment, the account manager will inform the development of a product suite for an emerging business unit to align with the needs of strategic partners and build and maintain a portfolio of academic, commercial, and collaborative projects. The account manager will ensure partnership/collaboration health, customer satisfaction, secure customer retention, and drive business alignment and growth. Responsibilities include developing a deep understanding of product applications and scientific project and collaboration needs, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, and managing all customer-facing aspects of platform services, from project scoping, contract management, and onboarding to ensuring that services are delivered on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will hold a strong understanding of cellular and molecular biology technologies and applications, including cell culture and differentiation, screening, and sequencing, will be comfortable gathering and communicating scientific requirements, and will be systems-savvy, detail oriented, and able to work independently to anticipate the needs of the project and stakeholders. The account manager will join a team engaging with customers within and external to the organization to explore and facilitate projects across a growing suite of cell and genomics services.


CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

  • Serves as the primary relationship manager for assigned partnerships and portfolio of organizations and collaborators using the Broad’s cell and genomic services; tracks key metrics, generates account/project reports, and collects and analyzes feedback.
  • Liaises with key stakeholders to build knowledge and inform product suite development, establish and communicate project requirements, champion cross-functional collaboration, and drive the implementation of programs in alignment with set goals.
  • Manages and supports collaborations with a focus on growing and strengthening relationships, consensus-building, and ensuring successful outcomes for range of stakeholders; facilitates the creation of comprehensive project plans which include project scope, goals, resource requirements, roles and responsibilities, and risk analysis.
  • Works with internal and external stakeholders to proactively plan for future projects that arise out of collaborations or projects, including establishing timelines, resource requirements, regulatory and logistical requirements.
  • Responds quickly to incoming business inquiries, introducing services, understanding customers’ goals, scoping and communicating project/program requirements, and engaging with internal teams to address non-standard needs.
  • Facilitates customer/project onboarding, including scoping, coordination of project contracting, and monitors projects throughout lifecycle, proactively anticipating, identifying and mitigating potential issues; manages agreed upon reporting activities.
  • Ensures that projects and activities adhere to institutional guidelines with regards to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensures business leads and activities are actively captured in Customer Relationship Management system; provides up-to-date forecasting to operational and financial teams.
  • Develops and maintains a strong understanding of cell, genomics, and related services and customer needs; seeks portfolio growth opportunities.


EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS

  • A BS with 7+ years of related experience, OR a Master’s with 4+ years of related experience, OR a PhD with 2+ years of related experience; PhD preferred. 
  • Strong familiarity with cell and molecular biology technologies (including sequencing) and applications required.
  • The Genomics Platform is located in Burlington, MA. The ability to travel to this location and, as needed, the Cambridge-based Broad Institute sites, 3+ days per week is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with interdisciplinary teams to effectively manage and deliver on program goals.
  • Ability to adapt plans and priorities to rapidly shifting goals.
  • Able to handle a variety of tasks and effectively solve problems as they arise.
  • A high level of initiative and the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Highly detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of alliance and project management techniques and tools.
  • Excellent communication skills; the ability to effectively communicate information and influence others.
